Has Micheal already performed?

There seems to be a lot of confusion on American Idol fan forums on when tomorrow night's episodes are actually being taped. In the previous two seasons, the Tuesday night performances at this point were taped on Sunday nights (it was a live "taping", not a live "show"). If so, Michael performed last night. But one fan on the message boards tells us he has a ticket to a dress rehearsal tomorrow afternoon. Still another fan tells us it was taped Saturday and "we are in for a treate." So who the hell knows.. Idol producers are doing a good job creating confusion.

So here's what we do know (sortof): Group One will be performing at CBS Studios (what, FOX hasn't got its own place?) in Hollywood with a 5-piece band and three backup singers, but in some previous seasons, Top 24 contestants have performed on a smaller stage.

American Idol announced earlier that the Top 36 will sing from a catalog drawn from the top ten songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since the chart began in the 1950s all the way to the present. So that should narrow things down a bit ... He'll be singing one of those 25,000 songs.

Anyway, the 2-hour show will air Tuesday night, followed by a 2-hour period in which you can vote for Michael as many times as you can. Wednesday's result show will be live. More on the show's format here.

  1. I know for a fact that the show will be recorded live tomorrow night. There has been no pre-recorded sessions.
